ETOBICOKE, ON – Championship Saturday is now complete and the gold medals proudly hang from the necks of the victors at the 2009 Canadian Colleges Athletic Association Badminton National Championships, which were held at Humber College in Toronto. A large crowd of over four hundred badminton enthusiasts were treated to some of the best badminton action in Canada. The host, Humber College, had players on the podium for the first time in history as the Men’s Doubles team of Alang Luangrath and Charlie Lay won the bronze medal. In Men’s Singles competition Raymond Wong matched that feat with a three set win over his brother Mark, also of Humber. “Badminton continues to raise its level of play, as the athletes always compete at their maximum level” says CCAA National Badminton Convenor Alf McGuire, “Some of the best players in Canada ply their trade on the college stage”.
