The women's golf team sit solidly in third place, and lead the fourth place University of Toronto team by eight strokes. They are very close to moving into second as they only are two strokes back of the University of Victoria.
Bev Peel put in an outstanding effort as she scored a three over 75. She is in second, just a single stroke out of the lead. Joining her in the top ten are teammates Maggie Trainor(78) and Shauna Wilde(79).
This is the swan song for veterans Maggie Trainor and Shauna Wilde. They are the most successful women's golfers in OCAA and CCAA history, as they have teamed with Bev Peel to win back to back provincial and national titles. As they graduate this year they would like to win the RCGA's, the only team title to elude them.
The event is taking place at King's Forest Golf Club in Hamilton.
Round 2 takes place on Wednesday and the Final round is slated for Thursday. The rain may force changes to the schedule.
