Andre Rose Green Returns To The Humber Hawks Rugby Program
Led Humber To Championships As A Player And Coach!
Toronto, Ontario – April 27, 2010 – Humber College is pleased to announce the return of Andre Rose Green to the varsity men’s rugby coaching staff, after a one year absence. Rose Green, who led the Hawks to an Ontario Colleges Athletic Association men’s rugby championship as both a player and coach, will look to lead Humber to the big stage again this coming fall.
“It may seem rare to have a player win a championship as a player and coach at the same institution, but at Humber the process of giving the opportunity and developing coaches from our stellar athletes is something we have embraced,” said Humber Athletic Director Doug Fox.
Andre was a key figure in the development of the Humber College varsity men’s rugby program. With him in the line-up the Hawks upgraded the colour of their medal each year, culminating in a gold medal performance in 2007. He then moved to the sidelines and helped the Humber squad repeat this championship performance in 2008.
“I am pretty excited, actually, I cannot wait. I have already started preparations for the coming season. ,” exclaimed Rose Green. “I can promise this, all of the players who put on the Humber uniform will be ready for battle,”.
The Humber Hawks were 2009 OCAA silver medalists. This marked the fourth consecutive year that Humber was in the championship game.
