Humber Athletics Coronavirus Update

Humber Athletics Coronavirus Update

Humber Athletics continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely, in collaboration with college and government officials and public health experts. With the call from public health officials to increase social distancing, together with the constantly changing circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, means additional measures are being taken by Humber to scale back operations of the college.

Effective Tuesday, March 17, all Humber College campuses are closed until further notice.

Students and employees – except for identified essential services and staff – will not be able to access campus. Athletics and recreation facilities at all campuses will be closed to staff, students and community members until further notice.

Out of the continued prioritization of the health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff, Humber Athletics has implemented the following measures:

  • All practices and athletically-related team activities have been suspended - including ALL intramural and extramural activities.
  • All Humber Recreation special events - including the annual year-end banquet - have been suspended.
  • All on-and-off campus camps and clinics have been suspended until further notice.

As Humber College announced today, students will receive an update from their program by the end of the week about alternative academic delivery from March 23 until April 17. Humber Athletics will continue to closely monitor the situation as well as recommendations from government officials and public health experts. Moving forward, we will continue to take guidance from the college, the conference and the CCAA, and any future changes to the above measures will be made in conjunction with those partners.

Travel
The situation is changing rapidly, as countries around the world tighten their travel restrictions.

Canadians have been advised to avoid any non-essential travel outside of the country and anyone currently outside of the country is urged to try to return to Canada and go into self-isolation for 14 days after their return.

Anyone in the Humber community who returns from international travel must self-isolate as the government has directed.
