The Humber Men’s Extramural Hockey Team finished first at the Seneca Tournament on Friday, January 18th.
The Hawks played hard against George Brown in the tournament opener, but lost 1-0. The team put up seven goals against Sheridan in game two, accompanied by a shutout performance by Nicolas Porretta. After finishing second in round robin play, Humber faced Mohawk in the semi-final and came out with a 2-1 shootout win. Team members credit the outstanding play of veteran goaltender, Andrew Robb, for the team’s success in this game.
The final game was another match up against George Brown. The Hawks carried a 2-0 score into the third period on goals by, veteran leaders, Shawn Rooke and Phill Smith. George Brown as able to break the standing shutout with a minute left in the game, but Humber held on to win the tournament.
Humber’s next tournament is at WLU Brantford on February 1st.
