Cricketers Strike Gold at Sheridan

On Friday, February 8th, the Humber North Indoor Cricket Team won the OCR event hosted at Sheridan College in Brampton.

The team started off the tournament with a win against UTM, after being tied 58-58 at the end of regulation play.  It took a “Superover” to determine the winner, and Humber won 12-5.  In game 2, the Hawks soared past the Mohawk Mountaineers 44-21 setting up a quarter-final matchup between Humber teams from North and Lakeshore.  The North team was able to beat their southern rivals 44-43.  In the semi-final game, it was the Hawks against the Falcons from Fanshawe.  The game was close, but the Hawks prevailed with a 44-43 win.  The championship final featured the Hawks and the Fleming Knights.  Humber was able to score 47 runs, and the Knights couldn’t catch up.  They scored just 24 runs on terrific bowling by Humber’s squad.

This is the Hawks’ second tournament win this season.  The team is in action again on Friday, March 1st at UTM.
